George Efremidis is Assistant Professor in the Division of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering of the Civil Engineering Department with the subject "Rock Mechanics". His research interests include: Mechanical behavior of intact rock and rock masses (constitutive laws, gradient theories of elastoplasticity, scale / size effects, the effect of microstructure heterogeneity), geostatic stresses, underground constructions in rocks, stability of rock slopes, geological hazards. Mr. Efremidis teaches undergraduate courses: Geology for Engineers, Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Deep Foundations and Retaining Diaphragms. He also teaches the postgraduate course: Engineering and Marine Geology ‐ Geotechnical Engineering. He has supervised 21 diploma theses and 6 postgraduate diploma theses and is an academic coordinator on 2 Erasmus + bilateral agreements with the Politecnico di Torino. He has published more than 30 articles in scientific journals and conferences.
