He has a Civil Engineering diploma from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a MSc degree from the University of South Carolina, and a PhD from Rutgers University.
His research interests include strengthening of reinforced concrete structures with composite materials, technology and performance of composite materials and reinforced concrete, and the use of recycling materials for the production of “green” concrete. Furthermore, he deals with the use of inorganic fireproof materials as matrix of composite materials. He is member of ACI and ASCE and he has worked as Assistant and Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (2003-2009), and as faculty of the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, UAE(2012-2015). He has published more than 40 research articles in peer reviewed magazines and international conferences and has served as principal investigator in NSF funded research projects.
